Fluoroscopy (a type of X-ray) is used to guide the adjustment process visually. The fluoroscopy is painless and the amount of radiation exposure to the patient is minimal (not dangerous). It is especially helpful to place the access needle into the adjustment port in difficult circumstances.

All women of reproductive age are required to sign a waiver stating that they are not pregnant, or that they have had an opportunity to ask questions to their physician and are aware of any side effects that can occur if they are pregnant.
